Scott Albert is a 2013 graduate of the Chicago School of Violin Making. He studied under master violin makers Rebecca Elliot, Fredric Thompson, and Professor Emeritus Tshu Ho Lee. While a student he was a recipient of the VSA Scholarship, a scribe at the VSA competition, and an intern attendee at the Oberlin Violin Maker’s Workshop. Since graduating he has worked as an independent violin maker. His customers include Julliard master students, serious amateurs, and others that appreciate the attention to sound and beauty that he instills in every instrument. Since 2012 he has been the Assistant to the Director of the Oberlin Violin Makers Workshop and the secretary of the Oberlin Violin Makers Foundation. This violin is based on Scott’s personal model that takes what is best from the great Italian instruments and eloquently incorporates them into a single violin. Wood choices include European maple and American spruce, both carefully selected for their anticipated acoustic qualities and natural beauty. The oil varnish is made by Scott himself with methods and ingredients as used by the great makers.
